IR Actions

This guide shows you how to use IR actions.


  • Full version of Unified Remote for Android
  • An IR-enabled device or networked blaster (Currently supported devices include: HTC One and Keene IR Anywhere. Other devices may also work, but have not been tested yet).

Choose IR Device

  • Make sure you have the latest version of Unified Remote.
  • Start the app and go to Preferences, IR Settings (under Device Integration). It should automatically detect any IR devices that are available on your network or embedded in your device.
  • Select the device you want to use.

Learn IR Code

  • To make sure IR is functioning properly you can test to learn an IR code in the app.
  • Go to IR Learn in the preferences of the app.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and press Learn Code.
  • Once the code is detected it should be displayed on the screen.
  • You can Test the code or Send the code for later use.

Create a Widget

  • Create a new Unified Remote Widget on your homescreen.
  • Select Change Action, set Target to Device and set Action to IR Send.
  • You will now be prompted with the IR Learning screen, which will help you capture an IR code.

Create Quick Actions

  • You can also create Quick Actions together with IR actions.
  • Simply configure your Quick Actions and follow the same instructions as above for Widgets.

Custom Remotes

  • You can also use IR actions in custom remotes.
  • Just make sure you set your OnClick handler to "@irsend" and put an IR code as the Extra.
  • The IR Learn Send feature is useful for creating custom remotes to easily copy the codes from your device to your computer.
